6th-8th Grade
Beautiful Savior offers a Christ-centered education to middle school students looking to learn in a closely-knit, family atmosphere and small classroom setting. Our students are taught independent work skills, offered several co-curricular activities, and given opportunities of leadership in the classroom and school.
There are eight major areas of instruction in 6ᵗʰ-8ᵗʰ grades. These are language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, religious study, the arts, physical education, and music. The activities that students participate in include, but are not limited to:
-Involvement with art history, medium variety, techniques, and skill development
-Practicing reading, spelling, vocabulary, penmanship, grammar, and writing
-Students will learn elementary math, pre-algebra, and algebra 1
-Participating in listening, theory, rhythm, and singing
-Students will be introduced in fitness skills and sports
-Students will participate in chapel, devotions, confirmation class, bible history, hymnology, and Catechism
-Studying Geography, world history, and American history.
-Learning about earth, life, physical, and health.
Our 6ᵗʰ-8ᵗʰ grade students have several different teachers for their classes. The main subjects are taught by the homeroom teacher. Subjects may be split into grades 5ᵗʰ-6ᵗʰ & 7ᵗʰ-8ᵗʰ, grades 6ᵗʰ-8ᵗʰ, or in single grade classes. However the class is structured, our teachers gear their instruction to meet the needs of all students.
We foster a positive, safe, Christian learning environment that promotes the success of our students. Middle school can be a tough time for kids to be experiencing much change in their lives. We are here to help, support, and love each child that is inside of our classroom walls. Our students also love and support each other in their relationships with one another with the motivation of Christ’s love.

Hello and welcome! I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. While attending MLC, I double-majored in Elementary Education and Secondary Social Studies. In my first three years of ministry, I was blessed to serve as a teacher and dorm supervisor at Great Plains Lutheran High School, in Watertown, South Dakota. This will be my first year as a teacher here at Beautiful Savior, and I am excited to get to work with all of you in getting your child(ren) the best Christian education possible!
My entire childhood was spent in the Wolverine State, with almost all of it being spent in Bay City, Michigan, where my father, Rev. Richard Starr, served as one of the pastors for 17 years. The friends made there have become more like family, and I hope that the new friendships I make here become just as strong! I am very excited to be a part of the Beautiful Savior family!
